The co-regulation system of the Media Act provides an opportunity for self-regulatory organizations to participate in the arrangement of cases falling under the competence of the Media Council. This, compared to other types of self-regulations found in other sectors and administrative areas (e.g. alternative dispute resolution procedures such as conciliation or mediation), is a stronger - the strongest possible and still constitutional - authorization ensured to self-regulatory organizations to conduct proceedings prior to the Media Council exercising its administrative powers...
